OLDE TOWNE NEIGHBORHOOD TEAM

The Olde Towne CERT Neighborhood Team is focused on preparing ourselves and our neighborhood for possible disasters with the hope that advance training and mitigation will help to minimize the effects of the unexpected. Our area of interest is roughly outlined east of Effingham Street and north of High Street, and bounded by the Elizabeth River, including the neighborhoods known as Olde Towne and Swimming Point. Our rally point is the Middle Street Garage.

In the event of an emergency, it can be difficult for both residents and family out of the area to get news on conditions at the neighborhood level. Current neighborhood conditions are posted and updated on the Facebook page of the Olde Towne Civic League.

Select central meeting point
Identify central gear needs and cache
Telephone tree/communications plan
Identify point people for: logistics/communications, medical, search and rescue, fire suppression
Procure street maps, large and small, of Olde Towne
Develop plan/procedures for anticipated disasters (hurricanes, etc.)
Educate neighborhood on how to contact CERT or volunteer in a disaster
